Donation presented to Landmarks Specialist College

Bolsover Drama Group have presented Landmarks Specialist College with £79.90, which has been donated by members of the group throughout December as part of the group’s support for local community organisations.

Larry Brocklesby, Principal & CEO of Landmarks, said “Landmarks is a land based independent specialist college located across two sites at both Eckington and Creswell, offering practical, specialist education for adults with a range of complex and profound learning difficulties and disabilities. Every learner follows an individualised programme that focuses on the development of essential skills for adulthood and life. These skills could be the development of independence, social and behaviour self-management, as well as preparation for employment.

“Landmarks has received a kind donation from Bolsover Drama Group that will help fund a state-of-the-art Sensory Room, where our learners at times of high anxiety can use to regain sensory control and continue with their studies. We hope this is the start of a great friendship with the drama group.”

The college was nominated as the recipient of the group’s donation, raised by members in lieu of sending Christmas cards, by members Janet and Istvan Koszegi.

Janet told Bolsover Drama Group “the students learn English, Maths, Communication, Horticulture and Conservation, Woodwork, Pottery, Small Animal Care, Large Animal Care and other subjects. We have seen first hand the wonderful work the College do as our daughter Emily, who has Aspergers Syndrome, Dyslexia, Selective Mutism and Social Phobia, goes. She has been there for the last 7 years and we have seen such a change in her – her confidence and happiness has greatly increased.”
