We’d like to hear your feedback

This year’s productions of’West Side Story’ and ‘Viva Mexico’ have been the first musicals to take place following our move into the new Bolsover School building, following our pantomime ‘Sleeping Beauty’ earlier in the year. The productions have been a learning curve for the group, both on and off stage, and we have taken on board feedback from our audience to improve the experience offered on show-night, including reserving seats towards the front for the exclusive use of those less able to climb the tiered seating in place in this new venue. We will continue to look at improving the experience for our audience in this new venue, and if you have any feedback that can help us in this quest please email us .

Bolsover Rotary Club president Robert Richards presents a cheque to Bolsover Drama Group chairman Mick Whitehouse and founder member Rachel Johnson We were proud to receive a grant of £200 from the Rotary Club of Bolsover at our recent 30th Anniversary Celebration Evening. The presentation took place on Saturday 4th June at the Assembly Rooms, Bolsover, where the president of the Rotary Club, Robert Richards, to Bolsover Drama Group chairman Mick Whitehouse and founder member Rachel Johnson, who is this year celebrating her 30th year as a member of the group. The grant has been spent on a new amplifier, which is in use for tonight’s production, to replace the previous equipment which came to the end of it’s working life during a previous show. The grant followed a recent Rotary Club event which group member Dawn Shearwood attended on behalf of the group, and we look forward to working with the Rotary Club again in the future.

Our “Night at the Races” is a great success

Image
On Saturday 26 th March Bolsover Drama Group held a race night with a difference at the Doe Lea Centre in order to raise funds for the group.  In a change from traditional race nights where videos are played, members and friends of the group took the place of horses and jockeys, donning coloured silks and advancing down a marked out course through the room based on the roll of a pair of dice. The event proved to be an enjoyable fund-raiser for the group and provided a good evening out for those that took part, regardless of whether they were first past the winning post or a faller at the first hurdle. We would like to thank the staff at the Doe Lea Centre for their assistance, and those that sponsored races or horses or took part in the evening for what was a successful and enjoyable social evening for the group.
