There’s no business like snow business

Treasure Island snow clearance

A hard morning’s work completed as the snow is cleared from the Bolsover School car park

Despite the bad January weather we managed to battle the elements and perform all the scheduled dates of our 2013 pantomime ‘Treasure Island’ (although we did have to open without the benefit of a dress rehearsal, which was called off due to the weather).

The Friday of show week saw the wintery weather take a turn for the worse with heavy snowfall greeting the cast as they left the school following the performance (some members had to stop the night at friends in Bolsover rather than attempting to travel home – luckily the Blue Bell were on hand to keep us warm with a post-show drink). Although we woke to a thick coating of snow we were able to ensure the matinee performance took place as planned as members and friends, armed with snow shovels, joined the caretaking staff of the Bolsover School and Mr F Tinsley, a local farmer who arrived with his tractor, to clear the car park and walk-ways for the safety of the audience.

We would like to offer our thanks to all who went the extra mile to ensure we could perform as planned.
